This isn’t helping…

I don’t know what to say except that looking at, thinking about and discussing the current state of the Catholic Church is not doing me any good. I don’t see how it can be doing you any good either.

I feel that following current events in the Church does nothing to edify me and just incites anger and despair. It has gotten to the point that I don’t like to look at my own website. How can I justify keeping this website going? I have decided, at least for now, to shut down the news and opinion updates on this website. The video pages will stay up because I just feel that they are not quite so disturbing or depressing.

At this point it seems to me that the best thing for us to do is just keep our heads down until these horrors roll past us and the pendulum swings in the other direction.

Personally, I am going to focus on the sacraments, traditional devotions and personal piety. I urge you to to do the same. Focus on practicing the seven Corporal Works of Mercy. I am pretty sure that the first three Spiritual Works of Mercy are now classified as hate crimes in America so it might be prudent to practice only the last four of the Spiritual Works.

Why now? The straw that broke the camel’s back for me was Dolan’s “Bravo!” on Meet the Press. If you don’t know what I am referring to (and you have a strong stomach) watch these videos:

Well now you have seen it. What do you think? With all this going on, what are we supposed to do? I think the best thing is to let Rome and Washington D.C. take care of themselves and just concentrate on what is close to home.  Other than voting Pro-Life, all we can do is love and pray.

Philippians 4:8 For the rest, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever modest, whatsoever just, whatsoever holy, whatsoever lovely, whatsoever of good fame, if there be any virtue, if any praise of discipline, think on these things.

The Church as and I knew it is gone. I say good riddance.

I think you are right to shut down the negative news stream. It is one thing to be aware of evil goings-on, but quite another to get a steady diet of it. And after all, there are many other competent sources of such information. I am concerned, however, for your well-being. I am praying for your encouragement and strength in the face of so many discouraging events in the world. Stay close to the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts. May you find comfort in their loving embrace, may your spirit be uplifted, and may you know the joy of Christ and His peace of heart no matter what “bad news” comes down the pike. God never abandons us, even though it sometimes feels that way. Whatever His Will permits in the world, whatever we may be subjected to by the worldly, He will always give us the grace to meet those challenges if we ask for it. We can trust the Lord, no matter how evil may seem to thrive–God sees us all and what we do. Everything that goes on is firmly under His control. For our part, we are simply asked to trust Him and to remain faithful. God bless you and yours.

  3. It’s an awesome piece of writing in favor of all the internet people; they will take benefit from it I am sure.
